Information reaching Joy News indicates that the Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has been sacked.
Dr Kwame Ampofo is said to have been replaced by Mr Ato Ampiah former boss of Toyota Ghana Limited.
The dismissal was confirmed by the deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in an interview with Joy News on Wednesday.
According to him, the decision was taken "early this week and everybody has been communicated to".
A statement received from the presidency says the dismissal takes immediate effect.
However, reasons for his dismissal are not yet available but cannot be far-fetched.
Workers of TOR have in recent past been agitating over the what they say is management's ineptitude leading to frequent shut downs.
