As part of measures to improve healthcare delivery in Ghana, Toyota Ghana Company Limited has extended its charity arms to the Adabraka Polyclinic refurbishing the Out-Patients Department (OPD) at a total cost of GHC 16,079.00.

The gesture according to Mr. Tetsuya Suematsu, Managing Director of Toyota Ghana Limited, forms part of the company’s social responsibility towards Ghanaians in the area of healthcare delivery.

Speaking at the ceremony to commission the refurbished facility on Friday, Mr. Tetsuya  Suematsu noted that Toyota Ghana believes health is wealth for that matter,  a healthy community is a productive community hence the need for them to support Adabraka Polyclinic in giving the patient waiting area  of the Polyclinic a facelift.

He noted that even though the company had dismissed other proposals, it could not turn down request by the Adabraka Polyclinic to help refurbish the Out- Patients-Department (OPD)  which will provide a comfortable sitting environment for  the over 200 patients who visit the clinic on daily basis.

This is the second the company is lending support to the health facility.  It first renovated the phase one of the nurses’ stations of the OPD.

“We believe our gesture will go a long way to transform the lives and health status of patients, staff and the entire Ghanaian populace,” he said.

Dr. Ebenezer Oduro-Mensah, Head of Adabraka Polyclinic expressed profound delight for the remarkable transformation the Adabraka Polyclinic OPD has seen due to the support of Toyota Ghana.

He noted, hitherto, OPD nurses’ station was not conducive for its purpose warranting the appeal for support from Toyota Ghana, and called for more supports from corporate institutions.

“Our nurses can now operate in a safe environment and provide patients with the required privacy during consultation periods. Complaints from the staff and patients about the heat and health risks posed by the asbestos ceiling will now be a thing of the past”, Dr. Oduro-Mensah asserted.
