Trust Sports Emporium Limited have presented boxing equipment worth thousands of dollars to the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) and the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation at an impressive ceremony held at the Bukom Boxing Arena, Tuesday.

Board Chair of Trust Sports, Madam Joyce Owureku Ampem Opoku, said the donation was to help develop boxing in Ghana and produce more champions.

She added that her outfit's aim is to help the sport so that the country can produce and get more world champions.

The GBA president, Peter Zweenes, received the items on behalf of the association.

Zwennes said: “We are lost for words at the gesture. We made contact for help but I never anticipated this magnitude of donation.”

Other bodies that benefited were Catch Them Young (CTY) group, Ghana Boxing Federation and United Boxing Coaches Association of Ghana.

The items included boxing rings, punching bags, speed balls, medicine balls, gloves, bandage scissors, boxing ring tools, original headgear, rope shackles, corner post protectors, mouth guard, hand wraps, abdominal guards among others.

President of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation, (GABF), George Lamptey, said the gesture had motivated the Black Bombers who were intensifying their training with a move to Cape Coast to keep them well composed and away from the pressure in Accra.

Jacek Slotala and Wikior Stauinski of ETC Polska said they were aware of the abilities of Ghanaian boxers and that was the reason why they were supporting the sport on a long-term basis. They urged the Black Bombers to go and shine at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Rashid Believer of the United Coaches said the donation came at the right time when boxing was on the up and prayed that more support would come to support the growing number of gyms in Accra.

Nii Kpakpo Allotei Cofie, a member of the GBA Committees and lover of juvenile boxing, noted that the future looked bright for Ghana Boxing. He appealed to other corporate entities to contribute to the sport.

Nat Attoh, also a member of the GBA Sponsorship Committee noted that boxing had done much for Ghana Sports and so the sport should be well developed and promoted to attract more sponsors.
