Three people have died and two others are in critical condition following violent clashes in Tuobodom.A combined team of police and military personnel numbering over 60 have been deployed to the Brong-Ahafo Regional towns of Tuobodom and Techiman following violent clashes there that left the three people dead. The Regional Police Command says two more people are in critical condition in the wake of indiscriminate gun fire on Friday. The shooting follows the arrest of the chief of Tuobodon Nana Baffuor Asare by bodyguards of the chief of Techiman, Oseadeayo Akumfi Ameyaw who later handed him over to the police. The two chiefs have been engaged in a protracted turf war over whether the Tuobodom chief owes allegiance to the Asantehene or the Techiman chief. The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Commander DCOP Seth Oteng said the situation is currently under control.“We have a number of our men there and the military is supporting us. So I can now boast of over 60 security personnel at Tuobodom,” he said.He said the country’s traditional authorities must intervene to avert future violence.“The traditional authorities would have to sit down because the root cause of this is, I think a misunderstanding somehow [resulting from] part of the time owing allegiance to the golden stool and the other side owing allegiance to Brong-Ahafo [Techiman],” he stressed.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
