Two people have been killed in renewed clashes that ensued between Kokombas and Bimobas at Kpemali near Napkanduri in the Northern region Thursday morning.
Public Relations Officer for the Northern Regional Police Command, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh says the deaths came about following sporadic shooting between the two ethnic groups.
Several houses have been torched in the process.
The violence was sparked by disagreement over a parcel of land.
ASP Tetteh tells Joy News police patrol teams have been dispatched to the area to restore calm.
“Two persons have been confirmed dead”, he said, adding that the bodies have been sent to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for “preservation”.
He also confirmed that seven rooms in two different houses were torched.
Meanwhile, headmaster of the Nankpanduri Senior High School, Harrison Salifu tells Joy News Kokomba students sitting for the ongoing WASSCE exams can’t write their elective papers today.
He says due to the clashes, there is no vehicle to transport the students to the exam hall.
