A retired educationist has accused two Parliamentarians; Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, of being behind the clashes which have left two people dead at Ashtown Wednesday. A number of unknown men shot and butchered two men in Ashtown in Manhyia South constituency in the Ashanti region. The police have mounted search for the killers of the two men. But the retired educationist, who wants to remain anonymous, is alleging that MP for Manhyia South, Matthew Opoku Prempeh and Asawase MP Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak are to blame for yesterday’s riot. Many believe yesterday’s incident is a reprisal of a similar one in the same vicinity in the heat of the electioneering campaign, where one man was butchered and later died of his wounds in hospital. LUV FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor reports that a lady who claimed to be the girl friend of one of the victims, Kwadwo Asamoah, came to the crime scene today to pour libation. She charged city authorities to immediately demolish an enclave in the area noted for wee peddling and other social vices, if they really want peace in the area. Her concerns have nevertheless been shared by many in the area. According to Erastus, some residents said they have picked signals that friends, sympathizers and gang members of one of the victims, are threatening to cause mayhem in the town if the perpetrators of the crime are not apprehended.
