In the end, the Ugandan blamed food for his knockout. "It was a nice fight but as you know, since I came I've not been eating well. The food is full of pepper! So I've not eaten. I don't know, [because] I don't eat pepper!"
Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings urged 21-year old Dogboe (14-0, 9KOs) to go after Azumah Nelson's legacy.
This was Edward Kakembo's first career loss while the Ghanaian has retained his WBO African Featherweight title.
Isaac Dogboe won after a sixth round knockout at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
It is Dogboe's second defense of the belt he first won last December.
Prior to the bout touted as the 'Battle of the Rising Stars’, Kakembo had promised to chain Dogboe - who he openly called a dog - which made the matchup a very interesting one to look forward to.
It was all ironic, considering how the East African had bragged loquaciously all week before the bout, famously saying a woman will get pregnant after getting a stare from him.
Fat chance.
