An unemployed man was on Tuesday remanded in police custody by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing and burning Ghana Telecom cables valued at GH¢ 1,900. Ofori Abbey pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft and he is to re-appear on September 4, 2007. Chief Inspector B. Y. Dadzie told the court that at about 0130 hours on August 15, 2007, Police Sergeant Emmanuel Larbi, leader of a patrol team saw Abbey at the Osu Ringway Estate burning a number of Ghana Telecom cables. Chief Inspector Dadzie said when Abbey was confronted and asked how he came by the cables; he told the Police that he stole them from a Ghana Telecom Pole at Ringway Estate.
