Uniqlo is very good at collaborations. Sure, there's the fun, eye-catching partnerships with the likes of Pokémon, Sesame Street, Haribo and Super Mario, but it's the ones that deliver high fashion on a budget that we're really interested in.
With ongoing partnerships with Christophe Lemaire (under Uniqlo U) and JW Anderson, Uniqlo has cemented itself as the go-to for fashion's inner circle, with magazine editors and fashionistas alike hitting the high-street chain for a slice of the good stuff, at prices that won't leave you broke.

And now, after a nine-year hiatus, the ultra-chic queen of minimalism and demure design Jil Sander has rejoined the Japanese brand and it's got us extremely excited.
Sander's eponymous line was founded in 1968 and from 2009 to 2011 German brand Jil Sander (which is now helmed by creative directors Luke and Lucie Meier) worked with Uniqlo on a line of super-sleek separates for men and women that fell under the name Uniqlo +J.

Across five seasons, standout products included oversized and elongated Oxford shirts, avant-garde outerwear in the shape of knee-length trenches and boxy puffer jackets and an extremely heavy dose of tailoring.
In fact, the tailoring was what really gave the collaboration its bite. Typically a Jil Sander suit will set you back just short of £2,000, but through the Uniqlo collaboration you could get your hands on a slim-fit Sander-designed suit for just under £200, while no less luxurious in design.

Outerwear designs include hybrid down styles, akin to those we've seen on the autumn-ready Sander catwalks, utility-inspired jackets, military blousons and cashmere-blend coats, while there's also tailored jackets and wool gabardine pants up for grabs.
Oversized shirts come in understated colours, from ivory to black and white, and there are also some more adventurous contrasting colour patterns. Meanwhile the knitwear on offer comes in fine-gauge cashmere and extra-fine merino wool, naturally.

Of the collection, Tadashi Yanai, chairman, president and CEO of Fast Retailing, which owns Uniqlo, said: “It is with the appreciation and excitement of working with Ms Jil Sander that I announce the return of the +J collection.
A shared respect for modernity and timeless design is evident in our latest collaboration, particularly in sophisticated, everyday essentials that are well-suited to life today."

Sander said: “I set out to define the global modern uniform with this in mind: Clothes should be long-lasting and enduring.
They should serve the wearer and give her or him the energy and self-assurance that is so much needed in our global reality."
The collection landed in stores this morning and with prices ranging from £24.90 to £299, the +J collection is another dose of luxury on a budget. Below are some bits you can still get your hands on (but be quick, because they won't stick around).
