Reports from the two Upper regions and the Northern region indicates those parts of the country are still experiencing fuel shortages.
This is in spite of earlier assurances from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) that the situation would have been over by Thursday.
The NPA attributed the challenge to difficulties in distributing the product by the Bulk Distribution Companies.
Joy News’ Upper West regional correspondent Rafik Salam reported that checks at petrol stations Friday revealed that the situation had not improved.
He said since Monday only a few filling stations have either diesel or petrol with most of the station having none at all.
A manager at one of the filling stations at Wa told Rafik Salam that due to the huge number of Oil Marketing Companies in the region the quantity of fuel allocated and distributed in the region is not enough.
He was hoping that, “we should have the product in abundance so that next time we will not be experiencing such problems.”
Upper East regional correspondent, Albert Sore reported from Bolgatanga that the shortage has slowed down commercial activities in the region.
He reported that it took police intervention to calm down tempers of a huge crowd of motorists who gathered at the Total filing station - the only station with fuel.
Frustrated motorists told Albert Sore that they were being driven away from the filling stations although they suspected some of the dealers had the product which they were hoarding.
Abdulai Muntala, a manager of one of the fuel station said they had run out of fuel, especially petrol, and attempts to tell motorists have proven futile with some accusing his station of hoarding the commodity.
The NPA is blaming the development on distribution companies in the northern part of the country.
Public Relations Officer of the Authority, Yaro Kasambata speaking to Joy News, assured that the situation would be normalized by early next week.
