Four traders have been confirmed dead after a rainstorm swept through Walewale in the West Mamprusi District in the Northern region last night.
Over 30 people are also said to have sustained various degrees of injuries.
This is the fourth rainstorm to have hit the region recently, leaving over ten thousand residents homeless.
The traders, who met their untimely death Tuesday morning, had taken shelter under a shed at the Walewale market when an uprooted tree fell on the shed and crushed them to death instantly.
Properties and buildings, including three schools were destroyed and electricity supply to the town has been cut.
A teacher at the Walewale LA Primary School 'A', Fauzia Salifu, told Myjoyonline.com that not only is the school's old classroom block completely destroyed but a new structure as well.
She said because of the huge numbers of pupils, the school authorities run two streams - 'A' and 'B' - but combined two classes in one classroom because of lack of space.
To save the situation, the West Mamprusi District Assembly put up a new school block which was nearing completion but the Tuesday's strong winds ripped off the entire roof of the new block.
Ms Salifu said the entire Walewale township is strewn with garbage and debris.
