The Greater Accra police have appealed to the NPP MP aspirant for Ablekuma South, Ursula Owusu, to assist them in investigations to arrest those who attacked her recently when she visited the Odododiodoo constituency.
Ursula Owusu and aide to the party’s flagbearer, Abu Jinapor, were allegedly assaulted by machomen accused of working for the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Odododiodoo, Nii Lante Vanderpuye. A claim which Nii Lante Vanderpuye has denied.
The police have come under intense criticism for not doing enough to apprehend those who attacked Ms Owusu and other NPP members. But
the acting Police Public Relations Officer for the Accra Command, Sergeant Kwabena Danso in an interview with Joy News, denied that the Police have not done much to apprehend the perpetrators of the violence.
According to Sgt. Kwabena Danso, they have been to the scene where the alleged assault took place and have invited eyewitnesses who are yet to turn up. Sgt. Danso said, rather, Ms Owusu has jumped from one media house to the other accusing his outfit of doing nothing. He called on the Ms Owusu to assist the Police in identifying those who allegedly assaulted her.
