Victims of floods caused by the opening of the Bagre Dam have started moving to higher grounds. The victims, mostly farmers have had their farms submerged by the flood waters. Upper East Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation Patrick Akake has dismissed claims the farmers are migrating from the region. He told Joy News they are simply relocating upland. “It is a matter of going upland to create their farms.” He said the reported flocking to the south was not new because youth in the Upper East Region often had nothing to do in the dry season and were often tempted to move down south to find some menial jobs to do.
