The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting inclusivity and advancing the rights and welfare of persons living with disabilities across the region.
The Minister made this pledge during a courtesy call by a delegation from the New Horizon Foundation of the Blind, led by its Director, Mr. Eric Kwabla Ofori, on Tuesday, July 1, at the Residency in Ho.

The delegation used the opportunity to introduce their organisation and highlight the impactful work being done to empower persons with visual impairment and other disabilities.
Discussions focused on potential areas of collaboration with the Regional Coordinating Council to improve accessibility, inclusion, and socio-economic opportunities for the disabled community.
In his remarks, Mr. Gunu expressed his admiration for the foundation’s efforts and assured the group of his full support. “I am deeply committed to building a Volta Region where everyone, regardless of ability, has a voice, equal opportunities, and the dignity they deserve,” he stated. “I consider myself not only an ally but a true partner in this important cause.”

He emphasised the importance of stakeholder collaboration in realising an inclusive development agenda, in line with national priorities of equity and social justice.
Mr. Ofori, on behalf of the foundation, welcomed the Minister’s commitment and described the meeting as a positive step towards institutional cooperation that will benefit the region’s disabled population.

The visit concluded with both parties expressing optimism about future engagements aimed at fostering a more inclusive and accessible society for all in the Volta Region.
