State power generator, Volta River Authority (VRA) says increasing utility tariffs is the surest way of saving the authority from collapsing.
The VRA over the past months has been making a strong case for an upward review of utility tariffs.
Some consumers have however argued that the power generator should look at collecting all monies owed it to address shortfalls in credit for its operations.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive of VRA, Kweku Awotwi tells Joy Business though it is working to collect all monies, but this would only stabilize the situation in the short term.
Mr. Awotwi however maintains arguments that consumers cannot bear any upward increase might not be that accurate.
Meanwhile, Joy Business has gathered that the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission has began its first round of stakeholder meetings on utility tariff review with the ministries of Finance, Works and Housing and Energy and Petroleum
