The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, has assured the Chief and people of Sissala that the government is committed to completing the Wa–Tumu–Bolgatanga road corridor under the ‘Big Push’ initiative.
“It’s not just a promise; it’s a social contract. President Mahama will ensure the completion of this road corridor before the end of his tenure,” the minister stated.
“Despite all other road projects, President Mahama has prioritised a number of key projects under what he has termed the ‘Mahama Infrastructure Plan’, and this corridor is included. It reflects his firm social contract with the people of Sissala,” he reiterated.
Agbodza gave this assurance earlier today while leading a team of engineers to inspect the corridor as part of his working tour of the northern sector of the country.
“We are conducting a final inspection of all these roads before commencing works in June,” he noted.
He encouraged contractors already working on the corridor to expedite their efforts to ensure the road is completed within two years.
“To those contractors still on site – keep pushing. You’ll be the first to be considered for additional projects. We acknowledge that we owe you, and we understand the challenges. But keep the faith and continue your work as much as possible. We will settle those debts and provide you with further opportunities,” he emphasised.
