Residents of Accra and Tema experiencing water rationing will have to wait till the middle of August to get regular water supply.
The rationing begun in January following structural defects detected in 5 of 12 filters at the Weija treatment plant.
Water Resources Minister, Collins Dauda who toured the facility yesterday says the plant will supply 42 million gallons of water per day once the repair works are complete.
“Work plan for the completion of repairs is three and half months. Therefore if we are able to keep to that time, which I am sure we will be able to, then by end of August, all the filters at this treatment plant will be able to provide water for the people of Accra and Tema” he assured.
He said the total cost of the rehabilitation works on the treatment plants is a little over 600,000 Euros.
