Some warehouses constructed by government under the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives (MSDI) have been engulfed with weeds, snakes and other reptiles.
Residents are concerned about the neglected facilities and have appealed to government to commission the warehouse for them to be used for the purposes for which they were constructed.
Under the MSDI to support the government’s Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP), five districts in the western North region have so far benefited from the one district one warehouse’ facilities initiative.
These districts are; Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, and Sefwi Wiawso Municipals as well as the Juaboso, Suaman, and Bia West Districts.

Although the warehouses have been completed and ready for use, residents have no answers as to why the warehouses have been abandoned.
Residents believe that if these warehouses begin operations, there will be more job opportunities available for the youth in the community.
Residents also believe that the level of criminal activities will be on the low if the youth are employed.
