The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wenchi in the Bono Region, Ms. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, has appealed for humanitarian assistance for residents of Gbinyiri who have been displaced and are currently taking refuge at Subinso II.
Over 650 residents from Sawla–Tuna–Kalba in the Savannah region have fled their homes in Gbinyiri following violent clashes and are now seeking refuge at Subinso II in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region.
Speaking to Adom News, the MCE said the situation is dire, particularly for children.

“The food we have is not enough. Looking at the large number of children, what we currently have will last just a day. Some of the children are barefoot, and their clothes are worn out,” she said.
The MCE urged individuals and organisations to donate food, clothing, and shoes to the municipal assembly so that combined resources can be distributed immediately to those in need.
“They really need help, and it is our collective responsibility to support them. All this suffering is because of clashes between some people, yet these innocent residents are the ones bearing the consequences,” she added.

Ms. Opoku Gyamfi also called on the displaced residents to avoid actions that could trigger further violence in their temporary location, assuring them of continued security.
“We have spoken to police commanders who are providing 24-hour security, and all security councils are monitoring the situation closely to ensure it does not escalate. Everyone should remain calm; no conflict will happen here,” she said.
