A newly constructed three-unit classroom block has been presented to Weweso M/A Basic School in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti region.Â
Before the construction of the classroom block, management says lack of space amid congestion had been their major challenge especially in the face of Covid-19 and the need for social distancing in classrooms.
These challenges will no longer exist as philanthropist Ernest Banning, CEO of Royal Basin Hotel has solely constructed and furnished the three-unit classroom to enhance teaching and learning.
Students of Weweso M/A Basic School will now have six streams of classroom for the JHS classes.

Headmaster, Baafour Asamoah recounted that "teachers were compelled to arrange students in a shoulder to shoulder manner."
According to him, "the advent of Covid-19 and its safety protocols even worsen or challenge us management; so we were planning to improvise for more space to ensure social distancing in various classrooms, then Mr Banning came in with his idea of building three classroom block for the school out of his own coffers."

The headmaster described Mr Banning's gesture as timely.
The man behind the success story: Ernest Banning, CEO of Royal Basin Hotel in Kumasi has already refurbished the school's library and computer lab.
Speaking with Luv News, Mr. Banning said that "the main reason behind his gesture was to contribute his quota to ensure effective teaching and learning for the younger generation."

He added that "I got to this school by chance when I was some time ago invited to a speech and prize-giving day, then I realized there were so many gaps to fill, so I started reconstructing their library, then their computer lab and stocked it with 15 computers and also refurbished their staff common room."
Mr. Banning, during his handing over speech, admonished school management, and other stakeholders to commit to continuous maintenance of the facility so as to elongate its lifespan.
