Entertainment news website, TMZ, is reporting that award winning singer Whitney Houston has checked herself in to an out-patient rehabilitation program.

The website quotes a source, whom they say is directly connected to Whitney, that the diva enrolled in the rehabilitation program about 10 days ago.

A rep for Whitney Houston also said the singer is receiving treatment for drugs and alcohol as part of a “long-standing” recovery process.

Whitney’s out-patient program allows her to go out in public as long as she is being monitored, the site said.

Just last weekend, Houston was reported to be enjoying herself at a Prince concert in L.A with her daughter.

This will not be the first time Whitney will be checking into a rehab as the singer has a long standing battle with drug addiction problems. In 2004, she checked into a rehab for substance abuse.

The 48-year-old did admit on several public platforms that she is facing substance abuse problems.

In 2005, her mother, Cissy Houston, petitioned a Georgia court to order the singer to rehab. Whitney declared herself healthy and clean releasing her return to music with an album, I Look To You, in 2009.

Born Whitney Elizabeth Houston on August 9, 1963, Whitney has sold over 170 million albums and singles worldwide.
