The Dansoman Divisional Police has mounted a search for a woman who abandoned her crippled child in a 'trotro' bus last week.
Her husband, Isaac Larkai Lamptey, who is in police custody, would soon be prosecuted for negligence.
In a telephone interview, the Divisional Commander, Alex Yartey-Tawiah, said "the woman is still on the nm."
It will be recalled that the Times on June 13, reported that a two-year-old boy was found in an abandoned 'trotro' - commercial bus- with registration number GT - 699 P, parked in front of a hotel at Mataheko, a suburb of Accra.
When the Times visited the boy on Wednesday at the Police Hospital, he was said to be doing well.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Juliana Dartey, a paediatric nurse at the Children's Ward, said the boy was brought to the hospital with upper respiratory tract infection.
She said no relative of the boy had so far shown up Chief Inspector Susan Anyan-Boateng of the Welfare Service Department at the hospital, said the child would be sent to the Osu Children's Home.
A source at the hospital told the Times that the boy, a twin was suffering from paralysis.
According to the source, the father of the child, who had been picked up by the police, claimed that the other twin is at Amasaman with family members.
