The Tema Regional police have arrested a 25-year-old woman (name withheld) over the mysterious death of her boyfriend, George Konadu Ampratwum, on May 1.
Thirty-three-year old Ampra-twum, who returned from the United States of America about a month ago, was found dead off the Sakumono Mighty Beach the following day, May 2.
The Tema Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Joshua T. Dogbeda, told the Times in an interview that Ampratwum and his girlfriend planned to have fun at the Mighty Beach that morning, after which they would attend his auntie’s birthday party.
When he failed to show up at the party, his aunt called his cell phone only to hear an unfamiliar voice which aroused her suspicion.
Chief Superintendent Dogbeda said that after a series of enquiries, the girlfriend went to the aunt’s house later with Ampratwum’s cell phone and the clothes that he wore before leaving home that day, and announced that he had drowned.
A search for Ampratwum began that moment and Ampra-twum’s naked body was discovered the next day off the shore of the Mighty Beach, with blood oozing from his nose.
A report was lodged with the police and preliminary investigations led to the arrest of his girlfriend who is currently in police custody.
