A two-weeks-old baby boy, Ibrahim Iddrisu met his untimely death after her mother’s rival dumped him into a latrine pit near the Bole market square, Saturday.
The 25- year-old lady who is currently in the grips of the Bole Police was said to have gone for the baby when his mother left him in the care of some children Saturday evening.
The baby who was named Saturday morning was left in the care of some children by his mother who had gone to charge her mobile phone.
“When I returned home I did not see my baby but I saw my rival standing by my room. On my way to the police station, I overheard some people saying they saw someone coming out of a public toilet close to our house.
“I went there only to find my baby in the toilet,' Ajata Osman said in a brittle voice.
Narrating the incident to Joy News, the Bole District Police Commander, ASP Eric Awiadem, said the suspect has denied dumping the baby in the pit.
He said the suspect who was in a relationship with the father of the baby for three years has a child with him but had been going to the house of the man to quarrel with him.
“We are currently at the hospital to conduct a post-mortem to help with our investigations so that we can leave the body of the baby to the family to bury because they are Muslims."
According to him, the police are looking for possible witnesses who might have seen the suspect going in or coming out of the house.
