Embattled businessman and NDC financier, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, standing trial for fraud, has been granted bail by the High Court in Accra at the request of the prosecution.Mr Woyome and his lawyers are expected to post a bail bond of GHS54 million and two sureties in order to satisfy the bail conditions and secure his release.Two others who are standing trial with Mr Woyome, a Chief State Attorney Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh and Mr. Paul Asimenu, a Director at the Legal Department of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, were also granted bail in the sum of GhC6000 with two sureties each to be justified.Joy News' Sammy Darko, who was in court said state prosecutors said they were satisfied that release of the suspects will not hamper their work.The court resumes sitting on February 20 but even before then the judge, according to Sammy Darko, has warned he won't tolerate unnecessary delays and has consequently charged the prosecution to be prepared to present their case speedily.It, however, appears, Sammy Darko noted, the prosecution is not fully prepared.Meanwhile, supporters of Mr Woyome thronged the court premises to celebrate his bail.The sung and danced and erupted into rapturous claps and thunderous drumming when word filtered through the court to them that Mr Woyome had been granted.Their excitement, however, dimmed when they were informed that Mr Woyome's release was predicated on his satisfying the bail conditions.Woyome was arrested about ten days ago for questioning after he was indicted by an interim report by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) last Wednesday.The EOCO investigated the payment of some GHC51 million judgment debt to Mr Woyome.He was refused bail when he appeared in court last Friday.
