State prosecutors will on Wednesday have to either formally charge nine suspects believed to have been involved in the murder of Ya-Na Yakubu Andani, the over-lord of Dagbon, or ask for an extension of their remand.
The nine including the caretaker of the Abudu royal family were remanded in police custody last month by an Accra district magistrate court.
State prosecutors appealed to the court to remand them a while longer as their release could interfere with investigations.
But counsels for the nine have since filed for bail at a higher court. That ruling has been fixed for May 18.
Meanwhile, an Andani youth group has appealed to police to intensify security in court today.
They argue credible information they have gathered suggests some troublemakers plan to cause mayhem in court when the case is called for hearing.
The Abudus and Andanis have been involved in a protracted chieftaincy clashes, one of which turned bloody in 2002, culminating in the death of the over-lord of Dagbon Ya-Na Yakubu Andani.
