Newly sworn-in President of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs, (SRHCs), Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, has indicated his readiness to dispense justice to all and sundry based on the truth and without fear or favour.
The King said this after he took the oath of office as President of the Savannah Regional House Chiefs in Damongo in the West Gonja municipality.
Justice Eric Ansah Ankomah of the Tamale High Court administered the oath of office to the King and six other members of the House who were absent during the inauguration of the House.
On justice and peace in the Kingdom, Yagbonwura used the skin of an antelope for his swearing-in which according to him, marks a new dispensation of truth, equity, justice, and without fear or favour to all and sundry.
"I've chosen to be sworn-in on the skin of an antelope strictly by the customs and tradition of my ancestors and this means as a President of the SRHCs, I'll dispense justice to all and sundry in my jurisdiction based on truth and without fear or favour, hatred or ill-will but in line with law, equity and customs," Yagbomwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I declared.
As the second president of the SRHCs since the creation of the Region, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto called on members (paramount chiefs) of the House to join his era of legacy-focused regime that strives for development and building impactful justice for the yet unborn.
He said the SRHCs will be, "second to none if we put up reputable behaviour in presenting the decision of the House, because this is dependent on our unity, love for the role assigned to every Chief of the House, and sincerity in discharging responsibilities."
The Savannah Regional Minister, Saeed Muhazu Jibril, for his part congratulated the King on his new office and urged him to develop broad shoulders in dealing with cases involving his subjects because "every dirty thing will come to you but you have to have patience to bring everybody on board."
"Chieftaincy is about people. Today, you are Yagbonwura because of the Gonja Kingdom.
It's made up of human beings and for that matter, see everyone within your jurisdiction as a son, a brother, sister, an uncle, or mother that is not different from your subjects", the Minister said.
The House is credited with 35 members including 10 co-opted members.
