The Executive Pastor at ICGC Christ Temple, Rev. Albert Ocran, has praised Playwright, Ebo Whyte for a good job done in his latest play 'Devil's Wife'.

According to Rev. Ocran, the first Ebo Whyte play after the reopening of theatres by President Akufo-Addo which took place last weekend, was life-changing and speaks of the grace of God Almighty.

Speaking to the CEO of Roverman Production after the play on Saturday, he said "You have absolutely outdone yourself. I watched Devil's Wife thirty years ago. So I came today knowing how good it was but I can tell you, you have totally outdone yourself. For us who have seen it before, it was not just a new experience but a reminder of the grace and strength of our God."

Rev. Ocran added that he could not hold back his tears as he witnessed how the playwright brought a whole new dimension to the play he has watched about two times, excluding his latest encounter.

"The 2021 version is a total enhancement of the play and for me, the surprising thing was watching a play I've seen twice and crying seven times. Absolutely amazing. The music, cast, energy and I'm sure you are feeling very fulfilled."

Sharing his thoughts, Ebo Whyte said he was happy about the turnout and could only give thanks to God for the success of the first half of the production.

He revealed that although the play has run a number of times in the past, he decided to chart a new path by presenting a new interpretation to the story this time around.

"I'm grateful to God for hearing us. Knowing it is not a new one, two different people have directed the play and I decided not to take any element from any of the previous directions. So you could see that there is nothing from the past. This was a very new interpretation of the story and that is the way I wanted it to be."

In conclusion, Rev. Albert Ocran urged lovers of theatre and the entire populace to make a date with Roverman Production over the weekend.

"If you have seen this play before or not, my invitation to you is to do this again and come with an open mind and you will just enjoy the experience."

"The lessons in this play are not for an individual. It is for the whole family. I still stand by the fact that there is something about Devil's Wife that is absolutely outstanding from any other work you have done," he stressed.

Both Rev. Ocran and Uncle Ebo Whyte admitted that "theatre is back and it is back big time."

Meanwhile, Devil's Wife runs again this weekend, Saturday, September 11 and Sunday, September 12, at the National Theatre at a rate of GHC80.

The play tells the story of a young girl fearful of marriage because of past tragedies and a young pastor with so much faith.
