The Ministry of Defence has paid glowing tribute to the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, highlighting his visionary leadership, dedication, and enduring legacy.
Delivering reflections on behalf of the ministry’s management team at the Evening of Reflection and Memorial for the eight victims of the August 6 military helicopter crash, Colonel Ernestina Assan described Dr. Boamah’s tenure as brief but deeply impactful.
“Through his transformative leadership and unwavering dedication, he left an indelible mark,” Col. Assan said.
“His diplomatic and inclusive approach fostered collaboration, while his vision for modernising the Ghana Armed Forces ensured readiness for contemporary challenges.”
The Ministry lauded Dr. Boamah for prioritising the welfare of both military personnel and civilian staff, strengthening civil-military relations, and advocating professionalism at all levels.
"His passion for agriculture and digitalisation brought innovation to the ministry and his strategic communication skills elevated its public engagement."
Col. Assan recalled the late Defence Minister's approachable demeanor, empathetic management style, and open-door policy, which empowered staff to share ideas and feel valued.
“His positive, productive, and progressive approach was contagious and transformative,” she said.
The Ministry described his legacy as that of a modernised, motivated, and responsive armed forces, and bid farewell to “a leader whose service was exemplary, whose vision was transformative, and whose memory will remain eternal.”
