Women know how to love and they do so beautifully if you’re that special one. You’ll be amazed (you here is in reference to men) at how a woman can let go of herself just to make you happy if she says the words “I love you”.
However, guys tend to take this for granted or maybe…just maybe, the women go too far. That is when the issue being a convenient girlfriend comes in.
Ladies! being a convenient girlfriend only favours your boyfriend. No matter how much you love him or how loved you want to make him feel, sometimes it is just too much. You shouldn’t be the only one doing all the work every time, he has to help too. The relationship can only thrive if both of you are involved.
Trust me, you’ll never be happy in your marriage (that’s if you’re lucky he married you) if you don’t stop being a girlfriend of convenience today.
Here are some signs you are a girlfriend of convenience.
You take over his chores
It is absolutely none of your business if your boyfriend cannot do his laundry. Yes it is none of your business. If you guy cannot clean his room, do his dishes or cook, that should not be your job. Let him handle his chores himself. You might a good girlfriend and you don’t mind doing all these but it only makes you a girlfriend of convenience. It’s ok to help him out once in a while but please don’t make it a habit. Gradually cut down on down in the number of things you do for him. If he complains or makes a big about you not doing things for him anymore, then sorry you’ve been used.
2. You live his life
If you’re living your boyfriend’s life, then you’re living a life that’s convenient for him. You’re doing yourself a great damage if you kowtow to the life he wants you to live. You should not matter more to your boyfriend than himself and vice versa. The relationship is about of you and everyone’s needs must be met equally.
3. He threatens to end the relationship when things are not done his way
If your boyfriend threatens to quit just because you don’t do certain things for him then he’s being manipulative. He will use this to his advantage especially if he knows you don’t want the relationship to end. Don’t get it twisted, it doesn’t mean he loves you if he does this; it is rather his way of controlling you to his advantage. In this case, you’re a girlfriend of convenience. It is god however, that you swallow your pride and give in sometimes…just sometimes.
4. You’re the rebound girl
He only remembers you exist when his other relationships end. Yes the other ones. If this is what happens with your guy then sorry, but you’re a girlfriend of convenience. You become history once a new girl comes into the picture as soon as she’s gone you’re a ‘darling’. Don’t let him trick you. If you reject him when he comes, he wouldn’t dare repeat it. Don’t give in to his ego. If he loves you, then he should be bold enough to stay.
