Mr. Moses Kofi Armah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, has urged the youth not to engage in self-destructive acts that could destroy their life. He has also urged Ghanaians to collectively support the nation's development agenda being pursued by the Government. Mr. Armah was addressing school children at the 53rd independence anniversary celebration parade at Bibiani. The DCE said the district needs peace and development which he indicated would come through unity of purpose. Prizes were presented to schools that excelled in the march past while students and pupils who performed well in academic, sports and cultural programmes organized by the District Education Directorate received certificates and prizes. Similar parades were held at Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua district. <>Bosomtwe District A little over 500 children from 13 schools in the Bosomtwe District took part in a parade at Kuntanase to commemorate the nation's 53rd Independence Day anniversary celebration. After an impressive march past by the schools, Joy Standard School was adjudged the overall winner and took home a set of jersey donated by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwe, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah. Addressing the parade, Mr. Edward Nti-Berko, the District Chief Executive, commended the children and teachers for their contribution and commitment demonstrated and urged them to continue to work hard to enhance the development of the country. He said the Assembly would do everything possible to support the development of education in the district and urged the students to be disciplined. The DCE said a new teacher's quarters was being constructed at Anyinatiase to help curb the accommodation problems facing teachers posted to the community. Kpando Mr. Francis Komla Ganyaglo, Kpando District Chief Executive, has called on school children to eschew indiscipline and take their education seriously to enable them to acquire knowledge and skills required for national development. He expressed concern about the low standards of education in the district as a result of unruliness among school children and called on parents and teachers to collectively take steps to change the situation. Mr. Ganyaglo was speaking at a parade of school children to mark Ghana's 53rd Independence Anniversary, on the theme: "Investing in the Youth for a Better Ghana", at Kpondo on Saturday. He said that government was committed to creating opportunities for the youth to enable them to develop their potentials for nation building Mr. Ganyaglo charged the people to build upon the sacrifices and foundation laid by the nation's founding fathers and work for progress. He also asked them to ensure peace, freedom and justice and promote good governance to raise Ghana's image among the comity of nations. Mr.Gayaglo said that President John Evans Atta Mills-led Government was working hard to achieve its "Better Ghana Agenda" and asked the people to avoid confrontation and resolve disputes through dialogue.
