The Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN), at the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) in Accra, has honoured the Minister of Information, Mrs. Zita Okaikoi in recognition of her hard work and support for the youth.
The IPS TEIN, which is the tertiary student chapter of the ruling National Democratic Congress, said it has followed the work of the Minister, and was convinced that she has so far been up to the task in her governmental and political work.
A citation accompanying a plaque presented to her at the inauguration of the new executive of IPS TEIN, described her as “a leader who talks less but works more.”
“You are leader who has a unique way of addressing government and political issues for the development of the youth in the party and the country in general,” the citation added.
In her response, Mrs. Okaikoi thanked the Network for the honour, saying, “good work speaks for itself.”
She shared the honour with all those who continue to support her work, and promised to do more to justify the confidence the President and the public have reposed in her.
The Minister commended IPS TEIN for the contribution and support it has offered the party, and urged them to continue to have confidence in the government since adequate measures were being pursued to address the development needs of the country.
She asked them and all others in and outside the party to provide constructive criticisms, since “taking the government to town would not help all of us.”
Alhaji A. Sorogho, Member of Parliament for Abokobi-Madina, who was also honoured by the NDC student body for his contribution toward the growth of the IPS TEIN, congratulated the new executive and reminded them of the challenges ahead.
He pledged to continue to support them, and urged the group to work at attracting more members into the NDC.
Abednego Mingle, the new President of IPS TEIN, in his acceptance speech, promised to provide exemplary leadership to advance the cause of the group and the party in general.
He also gave the assurance that the executive would pursue initiatives towards improving the welfare of TEIN members and the general IPS student body.
The other new members Daniel Boglo, Vice President; Richard Awuku-Awuah, General Secretary; Ewura Abena Barnes, Women Organiser; Abdul Mohammed, Organising Seccretary; Samuel Anagre Anaba; Treasurer; Joseph Ato Quartey, Propaganda Secretary; Edem Owusu, deputy Organising Secretary and Joana Kworlekwor, deputy Women Organiser.
