Monies for the Zongo and Inner Cities Development Fund have not been disbursed, the sector Minister has revealed.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Eid Ul Adha celebrations at the Independence Square, Abdul Mustapha Hamid told Joy News Tuesday that after the passage of the law governing the Fund progress has not been optimal.
He revealed that the Board has been inaugurated, the Chief Executive has also selected and steps have been put in place to look at development proposals that would be implemented in selected Zongo communities.
“What I inherited from the past minister is the search for office accommodation to house the staff…quite frankly the fund itself has not taken off,” he said.

President Nana Akufo-Addo created the ministry in February 2017 after assuming the reins of power in a bid to bridge the development gap between the Zongos and other communities across the country.
President Akufo-Addo said at the time that he is hopeful the minister would expedite the implementation of the Zongo Development Fund to help develop predominant Muslim communities across the country.

Mustapha Hamid took over from Boniface Sadique as the Zongo Development Minister after the recent ministerial reshuffle that reassigned the latter as Minister of State at the Vice Presidency.
