The 2025 Obuasi Cricket Festival has begun, drawing participation from hundreds of students and teachers across Obuasi East, Obuasi West, and Adansi Akrokerri.
The week-long event organized by the Obuasi Cricket Academy, started with a coaching seminar at Obuasi Senior High Technical School and continues with training sessions for scorers, umpires, and players at various venues including the Obuasi and KNUST cricket ovals.
Schools in both Obuasi municipalities and five schools from the Akrokerri area are taking part in the festival.

“We are excited about this year’s festival and hopeful that it shall have the desired impact on all our participants," Founder of the Academy, Rhyda Ofor Amanfo said.
She added that “we are also very pleased with the turn out so far. Our ultimate goal is to make the sport popular among these young ones and to help these coaches improve their skill so that the game can develop to the highest level in the country."
The festival will conclude on Saturday with a Women’s T20 match aimed at encouraging more female participation in cricket.
