The Western Regional Police Command on Friday night arrested 35 commercial sex workers in a swoop that was concentrated in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis.
The exercise which lasted for about three hours, saw ladies form different countries including Nigeria and Liberia being picked up.
The exercise which is the first under new Western Regional Commander DCOP Alex Quainoo follows a similar one conducted almost three months under former commander DCOP Kofi Boakye.
The move is believed that it is part of the New Commander’s resolve to reduce, if not eliminate the activities of the commercial sex workers.
“Sometimes, you come out of your car around this area with your family or your wife and you are greeted with calls from commercial sex workers which make you very uncomfortable,” one officer told Radio Maxx News.
None of the ladies has so far been granted bail as the officers are waiting for the next line of action from their superiors.
