A road accident at the Peki-Avetile portion of the Eastern Corridor Road has led to the death of four people.
The incident involving a Mercedes Benz bus and a Renault cargo truck occurred at midnight on Monday, March 14.
The four, comprising three females and a male in the bus, died on the spot, according to the Director of Police Public Affairs in the Volta Region, DSP Effia Tenge.
Seven others sustained injuries and have been admitted to the Peki Government Hospital.
The police have established the identities of the female deceased.
The cargo truck with registration number GT 6915 is said to have been travelling from Accra to Dambai with just a passenger on board, while the Benz bus, GR 1967-F, was travelling from the Oti Region to Accra.
The truck was loaded with bags of cement, but the bus carried foodstuff.
Graphic online reports that on reaching a section of the road, in front of the Peki College of Education (GOVCO), the truck collided head-on with the Benz bus.
The bus capsized, but the truck crashed into a shop after veering off the road.
Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Peki Government Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
