The fourth edition of the Multi TV Habitat Fair has been launched.
The Fair scheduled to come off from Friday August 23 to Sunday August 25, 2013 at the National Theatre in Accra will bring together various players in the housing sector.
It will attract professionals in the housing industry, including, architects, interior decorators, landscapers and real estate developers.
Launching the Fair on Joy News’ AM Show, on Multi TV, an Accounts Executive, Charles Acquah said the Fair has come a long way since it was first held four years ago.
“We started on a small scale with just about 20 exhibitors. We held it outdoors and the weather posed a problem for us. But we’ve moved on, and moved it indoors and now we can count about 70 exhibitors for this year.”
The Energy Commission, one of the new sponsors for the fair, is hoping to use its presence at the fair to educate the public on how to conserve energy.
A representative from the Commission, Victor Owusu also used the opportunity to advice Ghanaians to engage the service of only electricians who have been certified by the Energy Commission as required by the electrical wiring regulation, LI 2008.
“Just recently, the Energy Commission has come out with electrical wiring regulations for the country to inject professionalism into the electrical wiring industry. So if you go out there and want to engage an electrician, first and foremost, know the status of the person. Is he qualified; is he certified by the Energy commission; what material is he going to use?”
Speaking about how to make extra revenue from housing, the Head of Mortgage Department of HFC, Emily Clegg-Lamptey said “housing is an opportunity to create wealth because once you have one, the second one becomes an investment that you have, money comes in (and) income flows through rentals from that house.”
She said patrons to the fair can expect to get advice on mortgage from the bank as well as property management and property advisory from the bank’s subsidiary realty company.
Meanwhile, Mr. Acquah says there are seven more stalls available for interested exhibitors. They can contact the MultiTV office for further information on 0302-211680-9
