Five suspects have escaped from the Tema Community Two Police cells early Monday morning.
The suspects, comprising three (3) Ghanaians and two (2) Nigerians, were on remand pending trial on Wednesday, June 20, 2012.
The Acting Public Relations Officer of Tema Regional Police, Corporal Joseph Barabu confirmed the incident to Adom News.
He named the suspects as Prosper Dzanyikor, Richard Kwabena Opoku, Samuel Kortley, Oban Otse, and Ohiwa Seni.
Corp. Barabu said they are surprised how the suspects managed to escape saying that all the cells are well equipped with security systems.
He said the Police are doing their best to re-arrest the suspects to face the law.
He therefore appealed to the public to report any suspicious looking persons to any nearby police station.
Corp. Barabu also assured residents in and around Community Two of maximum police protection from the suspects.
