PLAN Ghana, an international non-governmental organization (NGO), is supporting 750 women from 19 communities in the Wa Municipality, Wa East and Wa West Districts in the Upper West Region with a total amount of 217, 892.00 Ghana cedis.
Mr. Daniel Asomaning, Wa Area Manager of the NGO, announced this when he presented three Yamaha AG motorbikes to directors of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), in the municipality and two districts, to facilitate activities of women in agriculture.
He said the women would receive farming inputs such as bullock ploughs, bullock carts and training in animal husbandry and veterinary services.
Mr. Asomaning said the NGO would work in collaboration with the District Assemblies and the National Board for Small Scale Industries and appealed to the women to take advantage of the opportunity to generate wealth.
Mr. David Waawula, Wa East District Director of MOFA, who received the motorbikes on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the NGO for the donation and pledged to put them into good use.
"Our districts are vast with communities far away from others and I believe the motorbikes would help us cover every area for the betterment of the lives of our people."
