A five-day training programme in disaster simulation and evacuation drills has ended in Tema.
The programme, organised by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), was attended by 80 volunteers and zonal officers selected from the various communities in the Tema metropolis.
It aimed at equipping participants with first aid and life saving skills, fire safety and fire fighting and flood mitigation skills, among others.
Participants undertook a simulation exercise to put into practice what they had learnt.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Mr. Robert Kempes Ofosuware, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, asked the participants to let residents of their communities benefit from what they had studied in times of disasters.
The Tema Metropolitan NADMO coordinator, Hajia Zenabu Abdulai advised the participants to remain committed to their work and to serve as first respondents to disaster in their communities.
