A circuit court at Goaso has sentenced an 80 year old man, Azuma Tongo of Kenyasi in the Asutifi district of Brong Ahafo to 15 years imprisonment for defiling a five year old girl.
Presenting the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector James Ofori Danso said in June last year the octogenarian lured the girl, who was on her way to school, into his room and defiled her.
He said Azuma in June this year again lured the girl into his room and once again defiled her.
The mother of the girl later detected a change in her gait and upon interrogation she confessed that Azuma had defiled her on three occasions.
The case was reported to the police and the convict was arrested. A medical report from the St Elizabeth hospital at Hwidiem confirmed that she had been defiled.
