Ghanaian-owned telephony and computer Assembly Company, Rlg Communications Limited has launched its latest innovative device called UHURU in Accra. The device is a combination of a laptop and a tablet that can be detached from the key board and used on its own. With the latest Windows 8 from Microsoft embedded in it, Uhuru is also touch screen and uses a Core i5 processor. The company believes its latest brand is premier in the range of laptops worldwide and will be the market leader on the Ghanaian market. Speaking at the launch, Chief Commercial officer of Rlg Communications, Archibald Annan said Uhuru, a Kenyan word which means “freedom” is here to relieve people of the stress of having to carry a laptop and a tablet at the same time. He said Rlg knows the demands of its consumers and will always introduce products that will best serve their interest. Archibald Annan assured consumers of the potency of the batteries and was certain that no product on the market can rival Uhuru. “The quality matches all the global brands that we have in the market. As far as we are concerned in the category in which this product is, it is a market leader,” he claimed. Rlg’s Chief Commercial officer indicated the company is going global because plans are far advance to re-launch Uhuru in South Africa. Archibald Annan urged Ghanaians to proudly embrace the product as their own to make it the leading brand in the world. “The reason why we have gone ahead of our global competitors in launching this product in Ghana is to convey a message to our home people that we are a Ghanaians company but we have the ability to compete with the global quality and standard”. Ghanaians can now heave sigh of relief after weeks of asking questions of what Uhuru was. “Uhuru….It is coming …” kept showing on television screens and on billboards across the country, making people wonder what it was all about. Now it is here and it is the latest product of Ghana's leading I.T and electronics Company, Rlg Communications.
