Bandwidth wholesaler, Vodafone Wholesale has rewarded five of its top corporate clients including Airtel Ghana, at an annual dinner and awards night at the La Beach Hotel in Accra.
The four others were the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), managers of governments ICT programs; private submarine fibre cable company Main One, and to internet service providers; Comsys Ghana Limited and IS Internet Solutions Ghana.
The special awards were in recognition of the loyalty of the five organizations in doing business with Vodafone Wholesale, which is operationally separate from telecom service provider, Vodafone Ghana, but wholly-owned by the latter.
A citation read that Airtel was particularly recognized for being the first to launch 3.75G network in Ghana and has since improved on the quality of 3G services to its customers with bandwidth support from Vodafone Wholesale.
Separate citations on the four others also indicated that they all chalked various levels of successes in improving infrastructure, technology and service quality, as well as growing customers on the back of the quality, innovative and competitively priced bandwidth they sourced from Vodafone Wholesale.
Managing Director of Vodafone Wholesale, Lucy Quist noted that the company has helped to improve internet penetration in Ghana and West Africa through its footprints in Togo, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire and recently in Niger.
She therefore urged ISPs in Ghana who want to expand into the sub-region to come along with Vodafone Wholesale, because “we have already provided the infrastructure – all you need to do is to plug in and play along.”
On the back the innovative bandwidth products and expertise at Vodafone Wholesale, the company has consistently topped the national charts as best internet service provider in Ghana, and last year, it pushed Ghana to the top of the charts in Africa.
Vodafone Wholesale has grown clientele from four ISPs and one mobile network operator (MNO) in 2009, to 27 ISPs and six MNOs in 2012.
