A church on the Spintex road in Accra battling with land guards over a parcel of land it acquired years ago is set to petition the Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Appeatu
The leadership of the Word of Life Gospel Church claimed they bought the 4.2 acre land at Okpoi-Gonno, a suburb at Spintex years ago and fenced it but has on several occasions been pulled down by land guards.
What has made the issue murkier, Director of the church, Elder Emmanuel Anane Boate claims is the inaction of the Manet Police Command under whose jurisdiction the land is situated.
He said after years of litigation over the land, the church secured an interrogatory injunction restraining the other claimant from developing the disputed land.

But Mr. Boate stated that, the defendants has flatly ignored the High Court order and continued their development of the land adding that all efforts to get the assistance of the police to enforce the court order had proven futile.
“When we contacted the Manet Police Station which has jurisdiction over the area, they said they could do nothing about it because they were not directed by the court to halt the construction or enforce the injunction order,” Elder Boate stressed.
The church is, therefore, appealing to the IGP, David Asante-Apeatu to direct his relevant commanders, especially the Manet Police Commander, to act in the interest of peace and the rule of law.
