Member of Parliament for Nkwanta North John Oti Bless has said the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has indicated that the oil found at Nkwanta North is more refined than crude.
Speaking to Citi News, he said the GNPC however needs to run more tests in the weeks ahead to come to a firm conclusion.
“I went there yesterday with the team from GNPC who went for a sample and said it looked more refined than crude. It looks like a finished product more like diesel you can put straight into your car. It is very light,” he stated.
“We have to give them some time to get their findings then they will go back to the site and drill more holes around to verify if there is indeed more of it around,” Mr. Bless added.
The people of Jumbo, a predominantly farming community in the Nkwanta North in the Volta Region, reportedly discovered oil in that part of the country last week.
According to the MP for the area, John Oti Bless, a resident digging a borehole struck a substance which appears like crude oil and checks show that it is indeed crude oil.
