The HDPE pipe has an outside diameter ranging from 630 mm to 1.2 meters in various pressure classes, produced on a brand new production line.
The expansion doubles the company’s production capacity of 630 mm to 1,000mm HDPE pipes and extends its product portfolio with two new diameters, 1,100 and 1,200 mm.
Briefing newsmen at the launch in Accra, the Chief Executve Officer (CEO), Mr Arthur Huberts said, the new pipe sizes offered a bigger alternative to transport high volume fluids.
“his will go a long way to make provision for future increase in Ghana’s population in water demand throughout the country,” he said.
Mr Huberts said Interplast had made the investment in 2012 based on the growing demand for large diameter pipes in Ghana and West Africa.
He stressed “Currently, the first 1,200 mm pipe is being produced for the new desalination plant in Nungua as sea water intake,”.
According to Mr Huberts, for the past 40 years, interplast products and solutions have proven their durability in a wide range of the most demanding field applications.
“It is no wonder that so many engineers and contractors vrecognize Interplast products to be the superior choice, providing better value and delivering better performance over other materials,” he said.
Mr Huberts said the introduction of HDPE 1.2 meter pipe represented a natural evolution of HDPE products lines which had become the industry standard because of their exceptional longevity, flexibility and efficiency.
He said Interplast Limited offered innovative water and drainage solutions for a variety of industries and applications throughout Africa, adding that “ as the first company to manufacture HDPE pipes in West Africa, Interplast currently delivers its products in 21 African countries”.
