Energy and Petroleum Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah on Monday paid a familiarisation visit to the Akosombo Hydro Power generating plant.
He was accompanied by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Professor Thomas Akabzaa and some officials.
Briefing the Minister, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of operations of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Mr Kirk Koffie, said the plant was in good shape and was currently providing more than 900 megawatts of power.
He assured the Minister of continuous supply of power from the plant, saying that maintenance schedules were being adhered to, to ensure efficiency in performance.
Mr Buah said the government was fully committed to ensuring the permanent resolution of the power challenges in the country.
He charged the workers at the plant to sustain the high standards that the VRA has set for itself and tasked them to be diligent in their duties.
