Joy News has intercepted a document that indicates the Director of ICT at the National Lottery Authority (NLA) has been suspended together with three other employees. The suspension according to the document is pending the outcome of investigations connected to a recent fraud case. An Administrator of the NLA’s Kumasi branch confessed to altering serial numbers of lotto tickets in the payment system, leading to an abuse. This singular act is believed to have cost the Authority significant amount of money. Joy News sources say even though the ICT director has been suspended, he has refused to hand-over the Mitsubishi Pajero Vehicle and other property of the NLA. The Office of the President last week ordered the Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Kojo Andah, to proceed on leave with immediate effect. The statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Prosper Bani, asked Brigadier Martin Ahiaglo to take over as Acting Director General of the Authority. The statement requested Mr. Andah to report to the Finance Minister for re-assignment after leave. It is unclear if that development is linked to the fraud and recent happenings at the NLA.
