The National Accreditation Board has granted accreditation for the establishment of Evangelical Presbyterian University with effect from September 1. The EP University with the motto "Knowledge is Light" is an affiliate of the University of Cape Coast and Eden Theological Seminary of United States of America (USA). A statement issued in Ho and signed by Mr Walter Blege, President of the University said admissions would begin in January 2008. It said courses to be pursued included four-year degree programmes in Business Administration with options in Marketing, Finance and Accounting, and Agribusiness at its Ho Campus. The statement said others were programme in Pastoral Ministry and Church Management at the Peki Greenhill Campus formerly, Evangelical Presbyterian Seminary. It said the programmes would be conducted during the day, in the evening and weekends to afford workers and the public the opportunity to pursue further education. The statement said open learning centres in urban areas in the Volta Region would be established. Dr G.K. Agama, former Governor of Bank of Ghana is the Chairman of the 10-member University Council. Other members are Togbe Afede XIV, Paramount Chief of Asogli Traditional Area, Ms Akua Dansua, Member of Parliament for North-Dayi, Ms Gifty Asantewaa Ayeh, Businesswoman, Mr Alex Ashiagbor, former Governor of Bank of Ghana and Mr Joseph Ofedie, Chief Executive Officer of Volta River Authority. The rest are Mrs Lydia Adajawah, Presbyter Executive of EP Church, Dr Emmanuel Ablo, former World Bank Economist, Reverend Dr Charles Wiredu, Provost of Regent University, Professor S.G.K. Adiku, Head of Soil Science Department, University of Ghana, Legon. Right Reverend Dr Livingstone Buama, Moderator of EP Church, inaugurating the Council described the establishment of the University as "the latest and most ambitious step the Church has ever taken." He said even though the Church would hand over its oversight responsibility to the University Council, the Church would continue with its support. "We shall advise where and when necessary.
