The Koforidua Technical University is hopeful it will obtain accreditation to start its Bachelor Degree in Mechatronic Engineering in September 2019.
The Bachelor of Mechatronics program was developed by the Koforidua Technical University in collaboration with Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Science in Germany as part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two institutions to collaborate in executing the mandate of the Technical University.
Mechatronics is the synergistic integration of mechanical engineering, electronic control and intelligent software in systems frame work used in the design of industrial products and manufacturing process.
It is used in variety of fields including automotive, aerospace, power generation, personal communication, automation, computing, manufacturing and healthcare.
The President of Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Science Prof Klaus Zeppenfeld has facilitated a workshop on strategic management aimed at helping faculty members, Heads of departments and other management members to appreciate best practices from Germany.
Vice Chancellor of Koforidua Technical University Prof. Dr. Smile Dzisi said, their collaboration is currently yielding a lot of benefit in terms of innovation and technical development.
She said, Koforidua Technical University has collaborated with their partners to manufacture electronic Bamboo bicycle. They are hopeful the electronic bamboo bicycle will help reduce the traffic situation in the capitals and also ease transportation in rural Ghana.
President of Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Science Prof. Klaus Zeppenfeld said he was happy about the collaboration and expressed hope that partners will continue to embark on joint research and publication and lead in the transfer of technology.
According to Prof. Zeppenfeld, his institution aims at improving quality and relevance of courses offered at KTU to achieve the Technical University mandate and develop relevant networks among the two.
